Stone town tour

Stone town also known as Mji Mkongwe (the old Town) is a Heart and Soul of Zanzibar. Spending a day at one of Zanzibar’s finest architectural landmarks is an ideal plan to start your tour exploring this wonderful city; you wouldn’t help but fall in love. The view on streets is decorated by its famed 19th Century buildings, especially their ornamental doors carved out of Mahogany or teak. Stone Town is a city of prominent historical and artistic importance in East Africa whereby its architecture mostly is dating back to the 19th Century reflecting the diverse influences underlying the Swahili Culture, giving a unique mixture of Arab, Persian, Indian and European elements. Hence the Town was designated as a UNESCO World heritage Site in 2000.
